Transparent LED Display

See-through LED mesh for shop windows and glass facades, keeping daylight and visibility behind the screen while showing bright content.

A glass shopfront covered by a normal screen stops being a window. A transparent LED display is built as a grid of light bars with open gaps between them, so the glass still shows what is behind it while the surface shows content. From the street the image reads as bright graphics; from inside, daylight still comes through. The trade is resolution, because the gaps have to stay open for the effect to work.

How it is specified

  • Transparency percentage, and how it was balanced against resolution
  • Pixel pitch, and the minimum viewing distance it allows
  • Cabinet width and bar depth, so the mesh lines up with the mullions
  • Brightness in nits, and how it is turned down for indoor viewing
  • Mounting: hung behind glass, on a frame, or on a dedicated structure
  • Whether the receiving card or a media player sits inside the cabinet
  • Service access from the front or the rear, and what the glazing allows

Where it is used

  • Retail shop windows and mall facades
  • Bank and brand flagship glazing
  • Showroom windows and car dealerships
  • Stage and event backdrops that must stay see-through
