Industrial Vision Camera
Industrial vision camera for machine vision and quality inspection, with high resolution, multiple interfaces and software integration.
A vision system succeeds or fails on the image it can produce, and that is decided before any software is written. The smallest defect that must be found sets the resolution needed across the field of view, and the speed of the line sets the frame rate at that resolution. Shutter type decides whether a moving part is sharp or smeared. Interface and cable length then set how far the camera can sit from the PC, and the lens and lighting are part of the optical design, not optional extras.
How it is specified
- Resolution and sensor size, and the pixel size that follows
- Frame rate at full resolution, and whether it drops when binned
- Interface: GigE, USB3, Camera Link or CoaXPress, with cable length limits
- Monochrome or colour, and global or rolling shutter
- Trigger and synchronisation inputs, and whether strobe output is provided
- Lens mount, working distance and field of view, and the lens supplied
- Housing and protection rating for a washdown or dusty line
- Software support: GenICam compliance, and the SDKs the integrator uses
Where it is used
- Surface and defect inspection
- Dimensional measurement and gauging
- Code, label and OCR reading
- Robot guidance and assembly verification
