Building Intercom Indoor & Outdoor Unit

Intercom set with an outdoor call panel and an indoor monitor, supplied as one matched pair for apartment buildings and gated communities.

An intercom only works as a pair, so the entrance panel and the apartment monitor are specified, supplied and installed together. The outdoor unit carries the camera, keypad, card reader and call buttons; the indoor unit answers, shows the visitor and releases the door. Because the pair is matched before delivery, wiring, call addressing and power arrive as one system, instead of two parts that have to be made to agree on site. Splitting an intercom across two suppliers is where most door-entry faults begin.

How the set is specified

  • Entrances and apartments to be covered, and how each call is addressed
  • Outdoor unit: camera, keypad, card reader, and the number of call buttons
  • Indoor unit: screen size, handset or hands-free, and door release
  • Wiring between the two: two-wire, four-wire, or IP over the building network
  • Power: supplied from the riser, or locally at each apartment
  • Whether a second monitor, a concierge station or a mobile app is added
  • Mounting at both ends: flush box or surface, and the wall construction

Where it is used

  • Apartment buildings and residential towers
  • Villas and gated communities
  • Office floors with a shared entrance
  • Dormitories and serviced apartments
