Telephone Distribution Box
Distribution box for telephone and low voltage copper pairs, used to split incoming lines to the building outlets.
Telephone distribution is still part of most buildings, even where voice runs over the data network. The box terminates the incoming cable and presents each pair on a disconnect block, so lines can be tested and re-jumpered without touching the riser.
